Tumbler cup survives car fire, its manufacturer to buy owner a new car

A viral video of a tumbler cup seemingly emerging largely unscathed from a car fire – with unmelted ice still inside – has earned a woman in the US a free new car.

The manufacturer of a cup which survived a catastrophic car fire in the US – with unmelted ice left inside – has offered to buy the cup’s owner a new car.

A viral video posted to social media platform TikTok shows a seemingly-unscathed ‘tumbler’ cup – manufactured by US company Stanley – in the cupholder of a burnt-out Kia, amongst ash and debris.

According to the video creator and owner of the vehicle, the cup was in the car when the vehicle was on fire – yet it is still shown to be water-tight, and has intact ice left in it despite the extreme heat it is said to have experienced.

“Everybody is so concerned if the Stanley spills… it was in a fire yesterday, it still has ice in it,” said Danielle, the Kia’s owner, in a video which has since amassed 82 million likes.

Now the president of the Stanley cup company has offered to replace the car – as well as the cup – in response to the video, as reported by Road and Track.

“We’ve all seen your video. Wow, what an ordeal and we’re all really glad you’re safe,”

“I’ve seen a lot of comments that we should send you some Stanleys, well we are gonna send you some Stanleys … We’ve never done this before and we’ll probably never do it again, but we’d [also] love to replace your vehicle,” said Stanley president Terence Reilly.

Responding to the Stanley video in another TikTok post, Danielle said: “I have seen the president of Stanley’s video, I almost passed out. This is crazy. I can’t believe they’re going to buy me a car.”
