2023 New Car Calendar for Australia

This year promises to be just as big as last year for new-car arrivals. Here’s everything coming to local showrooms in 2023 – and beyond.

The car industry is preparing to bounce back from severe production restrictions over the past two years during the global pandemic, with a raft of new models just around the corner.

Most major car brands have fresh metal on the way – pending any delays – and new-car buyers in Australia will again be spoiled for choice, with more electric vehicles, more SUVs, and more pick-ups from which to choose.

In the family SUV class we’re expecting showroom arrivals for the new Mazda CX-60 and Jeep Grand Cherokee, as well as new city SUVs such as the Subaru Crosstrek and Hyundai Kona.

For hardcore off-road fans and ute lovers there will soon be the option of the new Ineos Grenadier and the second-generation, Ford Ranger-based Volkswagen Amarok.

Performance-car enthusiasts can look forward to the BMW M2, Ford Mustang, Honda Civic Type R and Toyota GR Corolla, while there’s a wave of new electric cars on the way, from the MG 4 and Ora Good Cat to the Cupra Born, Volkswagen ID.4 and Hyundai Ioniq 6.

After working the phones leading up to and since the summer break, this is Drive’s exclusive up-to-date guide to every model confirmed (or expected) to launch in Australia in 2023 and beyond – correct as of the date below.

Drive will update this story progressively throughout the year with new models and updated dates, as they come to hand – however production interruptions and shipping delays across the car industry mean the information below is subject to change.

LAST UPDATE: 1 January 2023

Note: ‘Quarters’ refer to three-month periods throughout the calendar year – so January to March (first quarter), April to June (Q2), July to September (Q3) and October to December (Q4). ‘MY’ refers to model year.
