2023 Hyundai Palisade facelift details leaked ahead of April 13 reveal

The updated Hyundai Palisade large SUV will be revealed next week, with a new look, larger screens and upgraded safety technology.

Full details of the facelifted 2023 Hyundai Palisade large SUV have leaked, ahead of its full reveal next Wednesday, April 13, and first arrivals in Australian showrooms expected in the second half of 2022.

Coinciding with a pair of teaser images released overnight, what appears to be a internal Hyundai product presentation uncovered by US website CarBuzz reveals the facelifted Palisade will gain a new Tucson-inspired look, plus upgrades to its interior, technology and safety packages.

Leading the updates is a restyled front end with a more upright grille assembly, housing the same ‘Parametric Pixel’ inserts seen on the latest Tucson mid-size SUV – though unlike the smaller car, the Palisade’s daytime-running lights continue to be integrated into a vertical bar along the edge of the bumper.

New alloy wheels fill the arches, while the presentation published by CarBuzz reveals the rear bumper will also see changes – though images of what the changes will entail have not been published. Auto-dimming side mirrors will reportedly be added.

Inside, the Palisade is said to be in line for a restyled upper dashboard, steering wheel and centre console – though spy photos suggest these will mainly entail trim and material changes, rather than complete redesigns of the components.

As rumoured, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen will replace the Palisade’s current 8.0-inch and 10.25-inch units – at least in the US – with other new interior features to include a digital rear-view mirror, ‘hydrophobic’ windows, smart voice recognition, and a digital key function.

The Palisade’s safety suite will reportedly be bolstered with an upgraded autonomous emergency braking system with support for intersections, new low-speed rear autonomous emergency braking, and remote parking controlled from the key fob when standing beside the vehicle.

An upgraded adaptive cruise control system with ‘curve control’ is said to lead to improved semi-autonomous driving functionality, known as Highway Driving Assist (HDA) II (rather than HDA I in the current Palisade).

No changes will be made under the bonnet in the US, where a 3.8-litre non-turbo petrol V6 is standard-fit. In Australia, this engine develops 217kW and 355Nm, and is paired to a conventional eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Australian buyers can also opt for a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel four-cylinder, with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. It remains to be seen if this is upgraded to the Santa Fe’s newer 148kW 2.2-litre diesel engine, with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

US models with all-wheel drive will gain Tow Mode – though with the petrol V6 not available with all-wheel drive due to the way our right-hand drive layout is packaged, it’s not clear if this will be offered in Australia.

America’s Typhoon Silver exterior colour will be replaced by Shimmering Silver, while ‘Robust Emerald’ will replace the current Rainforest hue.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will be revealed in full on Wednesday 13 April 2022 at 11:45pm, as part of the New York motor show. Australian deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of this year.
