Subaru Viziv Performance STI Concept teased ahead of Tokyo Auto Salon

The Subaru Viziv Performance STI Concept has been teased ahead of its debut at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon later this week.

Given the Viziv Performance Concept was widely seen as a clue about the next-generation WRX, it stands to reason this concept car gives us a taste of what the new WRX STI will look like.

Quite how faithfully the two concepts preview the new WRX and WRX STI remain to be seen. The concept previewing the current generation model was roundly praised for its striking design and sexy lines, while the production version looked like little more than an Impreza with pumped up wheel arches and new headlights.

Subaru hasn’t provided any details about the Viziv Performance STI Concept, although the company says the concept car “embodies the brand’s vision for the future of making cars that deliver Enjoyment and Peace of Mind to its customers”.

From the two teaser images we can see the upcoming concept is based on the Viziv Performance Concept, which was unveiled at last year’s Tokyo motor show.

Compared to that car, the STI version features a new front bumper treatment, plenty of STI badging, pink highlights, a prominent front splitter, and more aggressive side sills. At the back, a tall rear wing stands atop the boot lid.
