Porsche considering electric and coupe SUV options – report

Porsche is reportedly weighing up its options for a follow up to the upcoming Mission E electric sedan, and is also considering “coupe” versions of its SUV line.

Although the sports car brand is currently hard at work turning the Mission E concept car into a production model, it is already considering its next steps in the EV arena.

“We have to check if it makes sense for Porsche to come with an SUV,” Oliver Blume, Porsche’s CEO, told Automotive News at the 2017 Los Angeles motor show. “But the so-called Mission E isn’t going to be the last project in electromobility.”

A decision is expected on this matter is expected in the first half of 2018.

Blume also admitted the company was investigating whether to add “coupe” variants to the Macan and Cayenne crossover ranges. A decision on these models is also due some time in 2018.

“There might be opportunities for the future, but it always depends on the volume behind it,” Blume told the industry publication. “We analyse each segment, and where we will have an opportunity, we will take the opportunity.”

In July, the Porsche CEO reportedly told Manager Magazin the next-generation Macan, due in the 2020s, would shift to becoming an all-electric model.
