Kia Ray: Updated micro car teased for Korea

Teaser sketches of the updated Kia Ray have surfaced this week, ahead of the new version’s debut before year’s end.

A pair of images were uploaded to the company’s social media channels, previewing a revised version of the boxy Korean hatchback which promises to be  cuter and more modern in appearance than the current model.

Revisions include a new split front grille, updated projector headlights with LED daytime-running lights, circular fog-lights, new LED tail-lights and revised bumpers on both ends.

Also expect new alloy wheel designs and a refreshed interior, along with potential revisions to the Ray’s 1.0-litre petrol powertrain.

The Ray was also the first Kia production electric vehicle (EV), released at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, though like the standard car, was only ever offered in its home market of South Korea.

Specifications for the current Ray EV include a 50kW/167Nm electric motor hooked up to a 16.4kWh lithium-ion battery, capable of driving at speeds of up to 130km/h.
