The Mercedes-AMG E63 S Estate is the fastest wagon around the Nurburgring, setting a time of 7 minutes 45.19 seconds during a test drive conducted by German car magazine sport auto.

Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 450kW of power and 850Nm of torque, the all-wheel drive super wagon lapped the ‘Ring some 13 seconds quicker than the previous record holder – the Seat Leon ST Cupra (7:58.12).

It also beat the quickest SUV around the famed German circuit, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV, which recorded a time of 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG claims the E63 S Estate is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds – or 0.1 seconds slower than its sedan sibling – making it one of the quickest wagons on sale in the world.

Unfortunately for Australia, though, only the sedan version is offered locally – meaning that those wanting the German super wagon can’t just walk into a dealer and buy one.
