Australian details for the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace range have been revealed this week ahead of the little cat’s arrival around April next year.
Starting from $47,750 before on-road costs, the E-Pace undercuts the BMW X1 (from $50,600), though is a little pricier than both the Audi Q3 (from $42,900) and Mercedes-Benz GLA ($43,600). Meanwhile, the related Range Rover Evoque starts at $56,050 plus ORCs.
No fewer than 38 variants will be offered, starting just under $50,000 and climbing all the way to $84,370 for the decked-out First Edition.
There’s also five engine choices, with every E-Pace featuring all-wheel drive as standard along with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Kicking off proceedings is the base E-Pace, which comes equipped with 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. LED head- and tail-lights, heated door mirrors, fabric seat trim, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist, driver condition monitor, along with front and rear parking sensors.
There’s also dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, torque vectoring by braking, an electric parking brake, push-button start, a 5.0-inch driver’s display, along with automatic headlights and wipers.
For those wanting a slightly sportier look and feel, the E-Pace R-Dynamic (from $52,550) adds a body kit, an R-Dynamic steering wheel with paddle shifters, mesh sports seats with contrast stitching, front fog-lights, satin chrome side vents, gloss black grille, bright metal pedals, and ebony headlining.
The entry-level E-Pace and E-Pace R-Dynamic are available with the 110kW/380Nm ‘D150’ 2.0-litre diesel, the 132kW/430Nm ‘D180’ 2.0-litre diesel (from $50,150), or the 183kW/365Nm ‘P250’ 2.0-litre petrol (from $50,150).
Next in the range is the E-Pace S, which starts at $55,200 plus ORCs when fitted with the D150 engine.
Extra kit includes LED headlights with signature LED daytime-running lights, 18-inch nine-spoke alloy wheels, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, auto-dimming door mirrors with approach lights, grained leather seats with 10-way power-adjustable front pews, Navigation Pro for the 10-inch touchscreen, along with the Park Pack – consisting of surround parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert.
There;s also the Connect Pro pack which adds app-based infotainment services as well as a WiFi hotspot.
Meanwhile the S R-Dynamic (from $60,000) gets grained leather sports seats with contrast stitching along with different five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels.
The E-Pace S offers the aforementioned engine options available on the base car, along with a peppier 177kW/500Nm ‘D240’ 2.0-litre diesel (from $64,020), along with the 221kW/441Nm ‘P300’ 2.0-litre petrol (from $64,020).
Above the S sits the E-Pace SE (from $60,030), which adds 19-inch 10-spoke alloys, highbeam assist, an electric tailgate 14-way electric front seats memory function, a 380W Meridian sound system, and the Drive Pack – which adds adaptive cruise control with Queue Assist, high-speed AEB and blind-spot assist.
The SE R-Dynamic (from $64,830) gets different five-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels. All five engine options are offered in the E-Pace SE and SE R-Dynamic.
Sitting atop the core range is the E-Pace HSE, which kicks off at $65,590 plus ORCs in D150 trim.
Features on top of the SE grade includes 20-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, a gesture function for the powered tailgate, keyless entry, perforated Windsor leather seats with 18-way electric adjustment and memory function, and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display.
The HSE R-Dynamic (from $70,390) gets different 20-inch alloy wheels in split-spoke style and diamond-turned finish, and contrast stitching for the Windsor leather sports seats.
As with the SE, all versions of the E-Pace HSE and HSE R-Dynamic have the choice of all five engine options.
Finally, sitting atop the range is the E-Pace First Edition, which is only available with the D180 diesel ($80,952) or the P250 petrol ($84,370).
Available for the first model year, the special launch edition gets 20-inch six-split-spoke alloy wheels, the Exterior Black Pack, a fixed panoramic sunroof, configurable ambient interior lighting, ebony Windsor leather trim with Flame Red twin-needle contrast stitching, a head-up display (HUD) and Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) wearable Activity Key.
Other features include First Edition branding on the carpet mats and metal tread plates, while the launch model also gets the exclusive option of Caldera Red, Santorini Black or Yulong White – the latter two asking for $1370.
As with any Jaguar, there’s an array of options and option packages to choose from.
