2017 BMW X5M, X6M Black Fire Editions on sale in Australia

BMW’s blacked-out X5 M and X6 M specials are now on sale in Australia, following their international unveiling earlier this year.

The new style-focused BMW X5 M Black Fire Edition and BMW X6 M Black Fire Edition models will come to Australia in a very limited number, with just 15 slots allocated to the X5 M and 10 to the X6 M.

As revealed in June, the Black Fire models get a number of cosmetic tweaks, including Sapphire Black paint, dark carbon-fibre mirror caps, black grille and 21-inch BMW M light alloy wheels in, you guessed it, black.

Inside, there’s fine-grain Merino leather in black and Mugello Red for the BMW M seats. Red contrast stitching appears throughout, applied to the seats, armrests, centre console, instrument panel, door trims and door pulls.

There’s also an anthracite Alcantara headliner, and the same material is featured on the M Performance steering wheel. Piano black highlights also feature, along with Black Fire signets “for a further exclusive touch”.

For the privilege of stepping into this style parade, you’ll pay $205,900 plus on-road costs for the X5 M Black Fire Edition and $214,800 plus on-roads for the X6 M Black Fire Edition.

In their regular forms, both begin below $200,000 – the X5 M from $189,010 and the X6 M from $197,910.

The mechanical package in both models is unchanged, which means there’s a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine delivering 423kW of power and 750Nm of torque.

As a refresher, both models claim a 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds. Fuel use, and emissions, are listed at 13.9L/100km and 325g/km for the X5 M, and 11.1L/100km and 258g/km for the X6 M.
