A photo of the Renault Megane RS, exposing the hot hatch’s side view, has been published online.
Originally posted on the Facebook page for the Megane RS Online shop. It’s not clear how the administrators of the site got hold of the image, but it seems to show an undisguised prototype at a Renault facility.
If authentic, we now know the new Megane RS will feature a vent between the front wheel arch and the front doors. Thanks to this car’s white paint job it’s hard, but not impossible, to discern the RS’ wider front and rear wheel arches.
Thanks to a leaked image at the beginning of May, we already know what the rear of the Megane RS will look like. Additionally, Renault has confirmed the car’s front-end design will feature chequered flag-style fog lights.
We still don’t know what engine powers the new hot hatch. Some rumours point towards a version of the 1.8-litre motor used in the Porsche 718-chasing Alpine A110 coupe, while others suggest a 2.0-litre mill.
This latest leaked image found its way onto the internet just days after the next-generation Megane RS made its public debut, albeit with a full body camouflage, at the 2017 Monaco Formula One Grand Prix.
To coincide with this ‘reveal’, Renault announced the new Megane RS will be available with either a manual or dual-clutch transmission.
The next-generation Megane RS will be fully revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show in September.
